Hints on being prepared for your Second Life® talk in the Embryo Physics Course

1. The slides will be uploaded to Second Life starting from your PowerPoint presentation. This prevents anyone from tampering with them. Please send slides to Dick Gordon and Evgenii Rudnyi, along with a brief abstract, by the weekend before your talk.

2. For voice, in the Second Life® window, open: Me: Preferences: Sound & Media: Input/Output devices and check all settings and sliders. Please schedule a practice session with me to make sure your voice is working properly. It helps to communicate initially by Skype (DickGordonCan).

3. Best way to check the time offset is to login and compare local time with the Second Life® clock in the upper right hand corner of the Second Life® window.

4. Please send Dick Gordon your avatar name, which you get by setting up a free account at Second Life® (http://secondlife.com). This will allow us to ask you both for friendship and teleport you to my location if you get lost.

5. No charge to speakers or participants, but we do accept donations at the donation box at our meeting place: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Nerice/162/69/62 Slides cost 10 Lindens = US$0.04 each to upload, and Dr. Natalie K. Björklund-Gordon rents the virtual land. The portion used for the Embryo Physics Course costs about $20/month.

6. If you want to buy virtual clothing, land, donate, get paid, etc. in Second Life®, you’ll need to set up your Second Life® (http://secondlife.com) account to reference your credit card.

7. We look forward to your talk, and hope you will also participate before and after.
